I love collections of old objects like in junk shops, attics and museums. For many people the memory of someone or a time past can be retained within a possession. An indirect beauty is held in the sacred nature of these belongings. I aim to translate these uniquely precious qualities into my jewellery. Human ties to the past are essential this theory.

I have spent some time travelling through South America and the west coast of Scotland researching my own family ties and through this, sourcing inspiration. Through using a wide range of materials, techniques and imagery I reflect the eclectic nature of my subject matter in a quirky way.

I use beaded wire to echo the intense decoration found in antique jewellery. By combining this with individual wax castings, flat pierced shapes, found objects and semi precious stones I aim to create thought provoking pieces.

I am currently an Artist in Residence in Ayrshire, South West Scotland. I have a workshop at the Dean Castle in Kilmarnock and I teach one day a week in primary schools which I enjoy immensely.
