My aim is to produce work of the highest quality, both in design and craftsmanship: work which exceeds my clients’ expectations and makes them ask, “how did you do that?”
From a farming background in Scotland, and with a determination to work with wood from childhood, Daniel was accepted at John Makepeace’s prestigious Parnham College on leaving school. |

Having received tuition from Robert Ingham and other renowned experts, he graduated from Parnham in 1996. His graduation piece 'Anodyne', an occasional table, received a Guild Mark from the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers.
After renting benchspace in London for four years, he set up his current workshop in Buckinghamshire in 2000. He has been exhibiting at 'A Celebration of Craftsmanship and Design' in Cheltenham since 1997 and in 2003 received the second of his Guild Marks for a curved chest of drawers. This piece was also exhibited at Classic Belgium in 2003.
Daniel specialises in unique commissioned pieces for home or office. His pieces are predominantly made from British hardwoods from sustainable sources. Every effort is made to work sympathetically with the environment.
This exhibition follows on from a successful year in 2005, when he participated in events with the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers at Bonhams, a Celebration of Craftmanship & Design at Cheltenham, and Chelsea Crafts Fair in October, at which he won a First Time Exhibitor Award.
“I am delighted to be able to showcase my work back home in Scotland - it has been my ambition for some time now to move my workshop back north - and I see this exhibition as a major step towards that goal.” |
